Search drawer

The Search drawer section is a sidebar that opens when the user opens search (e.g. from the header search icon). It contains a search form, live results, and optional featured links and bestsellers.

What it does

This section displays:

  • A slide‑out drawer dedicated to search
  • A search input and live (AJAX) search results
  • Optional “Popular searches” (featured links) and “Our bestsellers” (product list)
  • Typography option for search results

Section settings explained

The section has no blocks. All configuration is via section settings.

Title

  • Label above the featured links (e.g. “Popular searches”). Default: “Popular searches”.

Menu

  • Link list used as quick search links (e.g. popular terms or categories). Shown when no search query is entered or as a fallback.

Product list

Title

  • Label above the product list (e.g. “Our bestsellers”). Default: “Our bestsellers”.

Select products

  • Product list picker: choose products to show when no search query is entered or as default content.

The design / content options of the products in the search drawer is configured inside the theme's settings.

Typography

Search results case

  • Default — No text transform.
  • Uppercase — Uppercase for result text.

Tips for success

  • Use a short, clear title for featured links and bestsellers.
  • Keep the bestsellers list small (e.g. 4–6) so the drawer stays scannable.
  • Match search result typography (e.g. uppercase) to the rest of the theme.

You can configure how the (predictive) search is working, by using the Search & Discovery app from Shopify.
