Footer

The Footer is built from a Footer group that combines several sections: a basic grid (e.g. newsletter), multicolumn content (e.g. links and info), and a Copyright bar at the bottom. The group defines the layout and order of these sections.

What it does

The footer provides:

  • A configurable group of sections (section grid, multicolumn, etc.).
  • A copyright bar at the bottom with optional menu, copyright text, payment icons, and localization.
  • Newsletter, link columns, and other blocks inside the group’s sections.

Each section in the group has its own blocks and settings (grid style, columns, color scheme, padding, etc.). The copyright bar is a separate section type with its own schema.

You can add any sections in the footer group; these will be sections that appear in your entire store.

The Copyright bar is the bottom strip of the footer. It has no blocks; all options are section settings.

Language / country selectors

Show locale selector

  • Show language selector in the footer bar.

Show country selector

  • Show country/currency selector in the footer bar.

Content

Menu

  • Link list for the footer bar (e.g. Privacy, Terms, Contact). Default: “footer”.

Show copyright text

  • Show “© Year Shop name” with link to homepage.

Show Shopify notice

  • Show or hide “Powered by Shopify”.

Follow on shop

Enable follow on shop

  • Show the Follow on Shop / Shop app button when enabled.

Payment icons

Show payment icons

  • Show payment method icons (from Shopify payment settings).

Only show custom icons

  • When enabled, only the custom icon slots (icon 1–6) are shown; Shopify payment icons are hidden.

Custom icons (1–6)

  • Image pickers for up to 6 custom payment or trust icons (e.g. 90×57 px PNG). Shown in addition to (or instead of, if “Only show custom icons” is on) Shopify payment icons.

Tips for success

  • Keep footer link lists focused (e.g. one menu per column or purpose)
  • Use a consistent color scheme between multicolumn and copyright bar
  • If using custom payment icons, keep size and style consistent (e.g. 90×57 px)

Troubleshooting

  • If the footer group doesn’t appear as expected, check the section's order and section types
  • If payment icons don’t show, ensure “Show payment icons” is on and payment methods are enabled in Shopify admin, or add custom icons
  • If the copyright bar looks crowded, reduce the number of footer menu links or disable some footer elements
