Announcement bars

The Announcement bars section displays one or more message bars at the top of the site. It can scroll text, rotate messages, show countdowns, or host custom HTML/Liquid and app blocks.

What it does

This section displays:

  • A top‑of‑page announcement bar
  • One or more announcement blocks (scrolling text, slider, countdown, custom, or app)
  • Visibility rules and typography/color options per block

Block types

Scrolling text

A marquee‑style bar that scrolls content continuously. Can contain Text and Countdown inner blocks.

Visibility

  • Where to show — All pages, Homepage only, All product pages, All collection pages, Cart, or No homepage.
  • Selected collections / selected products — Limit visibility to chosen collections or products.

Functionality 

  • Scroll direction — LTR or RTL.
  • Speed — Scroll speed (range).
  • Pause on hover — Pause scrolling on mouseover.
  • Horizontal padding — Small, medium, large, or x-large.

Typography & colors

  • Text size (xsmall, small, medium), weight, case (none/uppercase), text color, background color.

Slider Text

Rotates between multiple messages. Contains Text blocks (one per slide).

Visibility

  • Same as Scrolling Text

Functionality

  • Autoplay — Enable/disable automatic rotation.
  • Autoplay interval — Seconds between slides (when autoplay is on).

Typography & colors

  • Text size (xsmall, small, medium), weight, case (none/uppercase), text color, background color.

Countdown

Shows a countdown timer with optional text before and after. Uses the shared countdown snippet.

Visibility

  • Same as Scrolling Text

Content

  • Countdown date/time — Year, month, day, hour, timezone (GMT offsets).
  • Hide block if countdown expired — Toggle.
  • Text before countdown / Text after countdown — Inline richtext.

Typography & colors

  • Text size (xsmall, small, medium), weight, case (none/uppercase), text color, background color.

Custom HTML / Liquid

Renders custom HTML or Liquid in the announcement bar.

Custom liquid

  • Single liquid setting: raw HTML/Liquid content.

Apps

Hosts app blocks in the announcement bar. No settings; add app blocks inside it.

Block settings explained (summary)

Visibility

  • Controls where the bar appears (all pages, homepage, products, collections, cart, or selected products/collections).

Scroll direction / speed / pause on hover

  • For scrolling text: direction, speed, and pause on hover.

Horizontal Padding

  • Spacing around announcement content (scrolling text).

Autoplay / autoplay interval

  • For slider text: auto‑rotate and interval in seconds.

Countdown

  • Date, time, timezone, text before/after, hide when expired.

Typography

  • Text size, weight, and case.

Colors

  • Text and background colors for the bar.

Common use cases

  • Promo or free‑shipping message with scrolling text
  • Rotating announcements (sale, new collection, support info)
  • Launch or sale countdown
  • Custom HTML for badges or app content

Tips for success

  • Keep copy short and focused on one goal
  • Use visibility to show countdowns only on product or collection pages if needed
  • Pair typography and colors with the rest of the theme

Troubleshooting

  • If content doesn’t show, check the visibility (page type and selected products/collections), and make sure that you are on the proper page.
